On Sunday, we left Anchorage and drove south to Tok, crossing back into Canada. The weather was great that day but the last two have been cold and wet. In Tok, we stayed at a nice bed and breakfast. In the morning, we got to talking to the folks there and the owner is from Romania, another couple from Israel were spending 4 months in the US, and 3 more guests were German; quite the international group! Nights are getting down into the 30’s and it snowed on the mountains outside Haines Junction where we spent last night. This morning we drove to Whitehorse which only took a couple hours and hunkered down in the Sternwheeler again and relaxed out of the weather. Had a great dinner at Klondike Rib and Salmon and will be heading for Jade City tomorrow. We sat in the truck looking up likely accommodations and found the cutest little hotel recently renovated right on the edge of downtown. One of the owners checked us in and helped carry our luggage to the room. Very clean, new carpeting and original artwork on the walls from a local. It’s within walking distance of some good restaurants and shopping. Yesterday, Dave took the truck to the Toyota dealer for its 10,000 mile check up and oil change while I rested and did ...
