Days 4 and 5

We left Sandpoint yesterday morning and hit the Canadian border at Creston a little over an hour later then stopped for breakfast. Just a warning - do NOT eat at Rick’s Iron Kettle Restaurant. Dave and I both ordered a Keto Scramble… first of all, I often order scrambled eggs because I detest runny whites… you guessed it, there was some uncooked egg… but the kicker was they actually had sort of a gray tinge and taste wise, I think whatever they were cooked in was pre used. Nah… I didn’t eat it and just had an apple and some cheese in the truck! Interesting introduction to Canadian cuisine!

After that, we drove about 250 miles to Kelowna, British Columbia. Part of the drive was pretty smoky from the wildfire in Jasper National Park but it was clear skies in Kelowna which is a nice mid sized city and we spent the night at a Sheraton. Their restaurant was MUCH better!

This morning, we drove from Kelowna to Williams Lake - about another 250 miles and it’s been smoky again. I had booked a reservation at the Lakeside Motel which turned out to be more of a 4th Street situation than I anticipated. I knew we were in trouble when we unlocked the door and Dave turned and looked at me and said, “No air conditioning, huh?” That’s when I noticed the fan on the table kind of ineffectively blowing warm air around. On the bright side, we do have a bathroom 😄 We’re only spending one night and it’s supposed to get down to 58 degrees (it’s about 81right now). Could be worse! Oh, I did want to mention gas has been averaging about $1.75 a litre… I’ll let you do the math but remember, it’s Canadian dollars.

The last thing for tonight  - the drive is really beautiful and we must’ve passed a half dozen lakes. Sweet dreams!
