Days 8 and 9 / Aug. 6 and 7

 We left Dawson Creek on Tuesday and drove to Fort Nelson which was another little town where we went to the local historical museum so I got more nightmare fodder (creepy mannequins)! Had dinner at a restaurant in an RV park and the burgers were great. Left yesterday and stopped at Muncho Lake for a pit stop then spent the night at Watson Lake at the Bighorn Hotel and once again, no AC. I took a lovely walk along the bank of Wye Lake after dinner and had plenty of time because sunset wasn’t until 10ish. Along the drive we saw a couple herds of buffalo, 4 or 5 mountain sheep, 3 deer and a black bear. Watson Lake is also the home of the famous Sign Post Forest where 100’s of travelers have left signs, license plates, notes, etc.





























Today we drove to Whitehorse - the capitol of the Yukon but more about that later as we’re planning on being here for a few days… so far, we’ve gone about 2,600 miles 😅

Hi again! We’ve spent the past three nights in Anchorage. Drove up here from Healy on Thursday and checked into a rather sketchy looking Wyndham Ramada. After seeing the room - burnt out light bulbs, no Kleenex, no TP, strange hairs on the bathroom floor (and other suspect cleanliness) plus a weird intermittent rattling from the floor heater - we turned around, went back down stairs and asked for a refund which the desk attendant gave us with no argument. Dave said he must be pretty used to guests wanting to leave by now! We sat in the truck looking up likely accommodations and found the cutest little hotel recently renovated right on the edge of downtown. One of the owners checked us in and helped carry our luggage to the room. Very clean, new carpeting and original artwork on the walls from a local. Days 27 - 32 / Aug. 25 - 30

 Last Sunday 8/25, we drove from New Hazelton to Prince George. On the way there, we decided to stop for breakfast in Smithers. One of the worst experiences we’ve had with a meal - waited for over an hour to eat and breakfast wasn’t very good. When we got to Prince George, the hotel was very nice, except had the oddest feature. The bathroom wall on the other side of the shower was perfectly transparent and looked into the bedroom so of course you could see from the bedroom into the bathroom. Not sure what that was all about, but it was different! On Monday morning when we left, we stopped at a cute little place for breakfast where a homeless man who looked about 80 (he was probably 60) was sitting in the foyer and the waitresses were kind enough to give him some food and a cup of coffee. Then he got up and got the key to use the restroom about the same time I had to and he was having trouble unlocking the door so he asked for my help so I opened it for him.
